Models
Should you wish to become a model with us, below is an outline of the treatments involved.
All models must be fit and well in order to be treated and NOT to have had any previous treatments within 4 months for Botulinum Toxin A or 6 months for Dermal Fillers.
All models (including those brought by delegates) will be charged a £100.00 fee for a treatment payable in advance.
Botulinum Toxin Type A treatments
How does Botulinum Toxin Type A treatment work?
By using facial muscles repeatedly throughout a lifetime, the skin becomes creased in the areas used most. The ageing process causes collagen and elastin production in the skin to slow down so that, as we get older, these areas of over-use become damaged and the lines become permanent. By reducing the movement of muscles in these areas, the skin stops being creased and is allowed to recover, causing the lines to soften or possibly fade away. In the areas treated, the muscles are temporarily (always reversible) inactivated, during which time the patient can break the subconscious habit of overusing these muscles. Depending on each individual and the dose used, the response to treatment can vary from a relaxation of the muscles to an inability to move them.
What happens during treatment?
The procedure will be supervised by one our highly qualified trainers at all times. The practitioner will ask you to use certain muscles of the face to observe how they work. An extremely fine, short needle is used to inject the Botulinum Toxin Type A into the appropriate area. This may cause some slight but brief discomfort.
The areas treated are the frown lines, crows feet and forehead. ALL 3 areas must be treated in order for the delegate to be assessed.
What should I expect after my treatment?
The area may have some slight redness and swelling, which normally resolves in an hour or two. After treatment, you should not massage the injected areas. You should not lie down for four hours after treatment. Also, do not apply make-up for up to 4 hours after treatment and do not perform any strenuous exercise for up to 4 hours. Do not drink alcohol for 4 hours and avoid having a facial for 24 hours. Do not take any long haul flights for 24 hours post treatment. The treatment normally starts to take effect between 2-4 days and the full effect is evident at 14 days, but this may vary slightly with some individuals. The effects will normally last between 3-4 months, when you will start to notice an ability to move the muscles more freely.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects of this treatment are rare. Most people find that the injection causes only mild discomfort. Immediately after the injection there may be mild swelling, which usually subsides in 48 hours. Other side effects are extremely rare, but we must inform models of these. They are:
Temporary drooping of the eyebrow or eyelid. This may last a few weeks, but will always resolve.
Dermal Filler treatments
How does the Dermal Fillers treatment work?
As we get older the ageing process causes collagen and elastin production in the skin to slow down so that, as we get older, these areas of over-use become damaged and the lines become permanent. These tend to be due to the fact that although we lose volume in these areas, we do not lose the skin in that area and this can cause deep lines and in some cases folds in the skin and also volume loss. Hyaluronic acid is a water based gel that is used to raise these lines and folds so that they are either softened or in some cases eliminated completely. Hyaluronic acid is already in the skin, therefore is not a foreign substance being introduced into the body. As it is water based it makes the skin look more hydrated and healthier, so not only helps soften lines, but improves the skins appearance.
What happens during treatment?
The procedure will be supervised by one our highly qualified trainers at all times. Thirty minutes prior to your treatment a local anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area and should help with the pain management side of the treatment. The practitioner will then assess your face and the injection technique they will use. A short needle is used to inject the dermal filler into the appropriate area. This may cause some slight discomfort, but will vary from person to person. The areas treated are naso-labial lines (nose to mouth lines) and/or the vermilion border of the lips.
What should I expect after my treatment?
The area may have some redness and swelling, which normally resolves in a day or two, and all swelling should subside within 2 weeks, but once again this can vary depending on the individual. Lip treatments may take a little longer to settle. After treatment, you should not massage the injected area and avoid wearing makeup post treatment for 12 hours as an infection control policy. Until the initial swelling or redness has resolved, do not use sun beds, saunas, steam rooms and avoid extreme temperature.
You will notice the effect immediately, but there may be some swelling, especially with lip treatments, but this varies from person to person. The effects will normally last between 6 and 9 months, when you will start to notice the lines re-appear or become deeper.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects of this treatment are rare as Hyaluronic acid is a substance that already exists in your body. Most people find that the injection causes some discomfort. Immediately after treatment there may be some swelling, which usually subsides in a day or two.
Other side effects are: the product may cause lumps under the skin, but can usually be resolved with gentle massage of the affected area. If this does not work, it will have to be left and they will disappear on their own.
In extreme cases patients have developed a purply rash, blanching or an allergy to the treatment.
The following applies to both types of treatments:
If you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother; we will not be able to carry out the above treatment. Anyone undergoing a general anaesthetic cannot have a treatment 4 weeks prior to or 4 weeks after this procedure.
Clients with active acne or rosacea, herpes (cold sores), skin infections or warts on the face will not be able to receive this treatment. Clients on anti-coagulant therapy; although only pin point bleeding is achieved, should have their coagulation status checked to confirm a normal clotting / bleeding profile as this can increases the potential for bruising. Models taking Aspirin or any anti-inflammatory medication increases the potential for bruising.
Please note: you should be well on the day of treatment.
